Puget Sound Restoration Fund Announces Community Support from the Seattle Seahawks and Lumen Field

Donation will support restoration of kelp forests, native oyster beds, and clean water in Puget Sound.

SEATTLE – As part of the Seattle Seahawks and Lumen Field’s commitment to sustainability and community support, the Puget Sound Restoration Fund today announced a $10,000 donation from the team to support the restoration of native kelp, oysters, and more throughout Washington’s marine waters.

“Ospreys – the bird most commonly associated with our Seattle Seahawks – rely on a thriving saltwater food web in Puget Sound to provide the fish that they hunt,” said Jodie Toft, Executive Director of Puget Sound Restoration Fund. “It is perfectly fitting, then, that the Seahawks and Lumen Field would lean in on supporting restoration of foundational elements of our food web – including the kelp forests that lie just below the surface, providing food and refuge for fish, crab, and a host of other species.”

“We are excited to support Puget Sound Restoration Fund and their incredible work to restore and preserve our marine ecosystems through this donation,” said Christy Briggs, Sustainability Manager for the Seahawks and Lumen Field.

The donation to Puget Sound Restoration Fund is part of the Seahawks’ “Impacting 50 Communities” Initiative, in celebration of their 50th season. Through the campaign, the Seahawks aim to impact 50 different communities through meaningful events, programs, and initiatives dedicated to making a difference across the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Lumen Field has long committed to sustainability practices. In 2024, the venue became only the second NFL stadium to achieve TRUE precertification for its zero-waste practices. The venue, which hosts more than 2 million guests annually, also diverts 90% of all waste from the landfill through its robust recycling and composting programs.
