SEATTLE, Wash. – In honor of Green Sports Day, the Seahawks today announced Lumen Field’s achievement of LEED Platinum certification. LEED Platinum is the highest certification in the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building rating system, administered by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).  

The achievement was celebrated during a special on-field moment at the Seahawks’ October 4 home game vs. the Los Angeles Chargers. Lumen Field is only the fourth NFL venue to achieve Leed Platinum certification.  

“Achieving LEED Platinum is a tremendous milestone for Lumen Field and a testament to our ongoing commitment to sustainability,” said Zach Hensley, Seahawks Vice President of Operations and General Manager of Lumen Field. “While our stadium is now 25 years old, this recognition demonstrates that with intentional innovation, a dedicated operations team, and exceptional community partners, we can continue to perform at the highest environmental standards.”  

To achieve the LEED platinum level, Lumen Field earned points for sustainability features related to energy efficiency, local food & beverage sourcing, green cleaning, water conservation, waste diversion, and more. This recent achievement builds on the momentum of being only the second NFL venue to achieve TRUE Gold certification for zero waste efforts in 2025.
