Lumen Field has been a sustainability leader since opening in 2002. As proud founding members of the Green Sports Alliance, a nonprofit that leverages the power of sports to promote healthy, sustainable communities, we continue to push the industry forward. We pursue our sustainability ambitions by taking informed risks, innovating, testing, and learning. Our efforts are guided by two core pillars: Drive to Zero and Go the Extra Yard.

PILLAR ONE: DRIVE TO ZERO
Lumen Field is focused on achieving zero waste through comprehensive on-site waste diversion, water conservation, and energy reduction efforts. Central to this is the stadium’s customized MRFi waste sorting system, which enhances diversion rates by efficiently separating materials on-site. Lumen Field is committed to zero waste at all event, achieving over a 90% diversification rate, making sustainability a core part of operations & driving to zero.

PILLAR TWO: GO THE EXTRA YARD
Go The Extra Yard encompasses Lumen Field's off-site efforts that create lasting environmental and social impact. This includes partnerships with organizations like the Puget Sound Restoration Fund to support local ecosystem restoration, as well as community clean-up events, education initiatives, and support for local nonprofits. Through these efforts, Lumen Field extends its commitment to sustainability and community well-being beyond the stadium walls.

Home Taste Advantage
Lumen Field's food and beverage program is rooted in sustainability and local connection. By sourcing ingredients and partnering with vendors located within a 3-mile radius of the stadium, we reduce transportation-related emissions, lower air pollution, and minimize our overall carbon footprint. Supporting local also strengthens our community and ensures fresher, seasonal offerings for fans. All food is served in fully compostable containers and utensils, reinforcing our commitment to zero waste and responsible operations.

Transportation
Lumen Field promotes green transportation to reduce our environmental impact. Fans are encouraged to use sustainable options like the Link Light Rail, Sounder Train, Metro bus routes, and rideshare services—all with easy access to the stadium. For electric vehicle users, charging stations are available in select parking areas. Choosing these options helps cut emissions and supports a cleaner, greener Seattle.

Community Engagement
Through the Seahawks Community Engagement initiatives, Lumen Field supports the Puget Sound Restoration Fund and other community-focused programs across the Pacific Northwest. These efforts aim to create lasting environmental and social impact through hands-on projects and meaningful partnerships. This commitment aligns with Lumen Field’s broader sustainability goals, including TRUE precertification for zero-waste practices and diverting over 90% of waste from landfills annually.
Our team joined forces for a beach clean up with Puget Sound Restoration Fund, successfully collecting 535 pieces of trash weighing over 67 pounds. This demonstrates how individual efforts contribute to meaningful environmental change. All collected debris was logged using the Clean Swell app to support global data and drive long-term solutions. Do your part - log your cleanup and be part of the movement toward a cleaner planet.
